The sun is out today,
but I got a lot to do to clear the obstacles that are standing in my way.
Ganesh on my neck but I can’t direct all my duty’s his way.
Laziness will lead to craziness if that price I don’t pay.
Gotta make some headway.

But it’s hard to get down to it,
to disconnect to do it,
cause you can’t forget to live,
and your girl she wants to squish,
and you spend your nights selling fish,
and there is no telling which
show you’ll go to
you know the most true
thing you heard as a kid is:

All work no play
makes jack a bad lay.
His thoughts will stagnate
as he slowly goes insane.

Gotta organize a jailbreak in my brain cells
so the inmates can escape hell,
if the rain came to the drained well
and the main game can be framed well.

And he’s got a lot to say.

It’s hot out here got the hotheads fighting
Hot out here, but I’ll Do the Right Thing,
like Spike and Bruce and Stan Lee.
Not manly but neither was Spiderman.
Learning that as a kid,
it made me a brighter man.
Balance power with responsibility like a fighter can.
Build your knowledge it’s a weapon
wielded with my writer’s hand.
I can feel it makes a difference.
Manifesting confidence.

So I gotta do it.
Put my pen to the page and get down to it.
everyday so it‘s fluid
Push back against the voice that says to screw it
But I’ll rue it if October comes and I find I blew it.
There’s nine months of winter to pursue this.

Focus on the breath.
Focus on your mind.
Focus.
Just look inside.

Feel the body stretch.
Feel a sense of peace.
Don’t fret.
Just take the time.

It’s called a practice for a reason.
All I’ve got to do is repeat it.
It’s not immediate.
Won’t beat myself up for day dreaming.

The meaning is made when I see it.
Notice I’ve drifted.
Don’t get it twisted.
The Buddha I don’t have to be it.
Progress is liquid.
Attention has shifted.

Thoughts forming I perceive it.
There’s something that precedes it.
Subtle like the Tao.
I can track it down.
no distraction now.

I’ve gotta be reachable
cause fortune might call.
I’ve gotta be available.
Even it takes a toll,
I’ll swallow it all.

Some time last week,
we were talking and walking down the street.
We were laughing at each others jokes and being the most that we could be.
And I know that it was me
that first broke the spell.
A right hand in a pocket
and I know you could tell even though I
didn’t miss a beat,
and our eyes remained fixed,
but the skin around yours revealed
you detected the shift,
and accepted it with
that hesitant kiss
then we looked at our phones in a silence that lasted about a second,

but that was all it took.
That chapter of the book had passed.
The moment that we could have had
was now gone for good and bad.
It’s terrible.
I’m telling the parable,
and making it sharable down to the syllable.
Tear it down, have a ritual,
not be so habitual,
not be so distracted,
not be so reactant,
to the incoming traffic,
and remember that you are not a gadget.
